Clear focus
Timo Kanz is a team player with a clear vision – which is a winning formula for his latest challenge: designing and developing TDM software solutions. These include not only the established lines from TDM and TDM Global Line but also TDM Cloud Essentials – the cloud-based solution launched in 2021 – in addition to the entire interfaces as well as data services. And it is precisely this that the 37-year-old family man finds so fascinating: "First and foremost, the TDM solutions have to complement one another, so that it's really straight-forward for customers to combine the solutions and operate them."
A passion for data
After completing his IT degree in 2012, Timo Kanz worked for a leading international supplier of measuring instruments and industrial technology for 10 years. He is a man of extensive hands-on experience: From integrating manufacturing machines into the production process through to introducing the corresponding ME system. He speaks of his specialist interests with great enthusiasm. One of these is how data is evaluated and utilized: "We want users to be able to generate significant added value from their data in order to instantly streamline their processes, and that is precisely what tool data and machine data is designed to do."
A future of cloud technology
Another one of Timo Kanz's top priorities is the functional expansion of TDM Cloud Essentials. Though the cloud solution is currently still used to only a modest extent, he is certain it is the way forward: "The future belongs to the cloud, because businesses will realize the wide-ranging benefits in terms of costs and application sooner than current predictions." That's why TDM Systems intends to be ready in the starting blocks as a cloud provider. But for longstanding customers, there is even more to it. As well as developing the software lines, he wants to increase the focus on mobile clients and web clients. "At the moment, these are already being integrated into customer projects, but we want to include them in our standard portfolio too."
Open to new technologies
In Timo Kanz, this management position has been entrusted to an IT specialist with vast production experience and a hands-on approach, who is leading the teams with great enthusiasm and an open mind. "It's really important to me that we always have one ear listening out for the latest technologies." Especially in the strategically important fields of technology, we should try new approaches in order to gain valuable experience. It prepares us to overcome future challenges and is fundamental to innovative software development. Kanz knows: "Our solutions have a direct impact on our customers' productivity – and so it is a real honor to actively shape these solutions."
