Experience in digital transformation
Dmitry Smolkin knows what he's talking about. The graduate engineer in laser technology and optical technologies has been working in the field of software services and support, as well as the digitalization of business processes, for over 25 years. He has held positions of responsibility in this area, driving countless complex digital transformation projects and managing the entire IT services and solutions department of companies as a senior manager. Dmitry Smolkin not only brings a great deal of expertise and know-how in the area of software services and solutions to TDM Systems, he also knows the structures in which large corporations operate and which determine the character of the digital transformation there. However, he has also accompanied and supported smaller medium-sized companies in digitalizing their own and their customers' business processes.
Focus on time-to-value and the user's value chain
This is an ideal combination for Dmitry Smolkin's new role at TDM Systems, as the software provider from Tübingen is itself part of these two worlds: The medium-sized company, which operates independently, is backed by Sandvik, a large, globally active parent company in the metal machining sector. TDM Systems offers the agility and detailed specialist knowledge of a smaller company, but can always draw on the resources and process expertise of an international organization – and its market access.
"TDM Systems has great products for tool data and shopfloor management. However, I'm convinced that their potential hasn't yet been fully unlocked, especially when it comes to services. My goal is to build up a portfolio of services and solutions with which we can proactively support our customers in optimizing their production processes and adapting them to the changing requirements of the market. To this end, we're further expanding our process expertise here in the team. We're also bringing product development, product management and customer consulting closer together. We're developing our services from pure support to proactive consulting and support for our users at all levels of their tool management and shopfloor management processes."
Actively supporting and optimizing customer processes
As the Head of Service and Operations, Dmitry Smolkin also places an important strategic focus on the expansion and functional differentiation of TDM Systems' services. " The goal is to structure our service portfolio in a way that allows it to flexibly adapted to our customers' individual needs, across a broad customer profile. Whether you're a large corporation with complex process requirements or a smaller company that needs fast and uncomplicated self-services, TDM Systems' services must be able to scale with customers' growth curves and adapt quickly to changing business objectives."
The service team's goal is a software solution that collects and evaluates as much information as possible about its own processes. The software then sends notifications to the IT operations team about the necessary maintenance activities so as not to jeopardize operational continuity.
Feedback from TDM Systems customers is an important impetus and input for the strategic development of the service offerings. Total cost of ownership and the time-to-value in the actual productive processes at the user's premises are the yardstick by which the quality and performance of TDM Systems' services can be measured. Dmitry Smolkin and his team are working hard to further develop the TDM Systems services portfolio accordingly.
The next milestones that Dmitry Smolkin and his team have set themselves are to reduce project and support times, as well as new services to be made available to TDM Systems customers. This includes performance optimization, an updated online academy, technical knowledge databases and checklists for project preparation.
