Digital Hot Spot Allgäu
"The TDM Day is a great opportunity for us to present what's new in our company to a very competent and interested audience from a wide range of companies. But what makes the event really valuable for us: The many conversations and the spontaneous feedback we received. This is where we find out what moves people, what they are working on and where they want solutions," says Andreas Seum, Executive Vice President Global Sales & Marketing at TDM Systems. The networking and exchange of experiences between TDM users and TDM Systems already started the evening before, at the traditional regulars' table. For many participants, this was the best part of the event.
Host DMG MORI offers modern location with mountain views
There is not really much to say about DMG MORI: The company has been setting the benchmarks for high-end technology in machining for years. The extremely high degree of digitalization of our own processes and DMG MORI machines are the basis for this. We were able to experience this live during a tour of the production facility. Harald Hoofs (Senior Consultant) and Maruan Shanib (Senior Product Manager Connectivity), DMG MORI Digital GmbH, also provided us with fascinating insights into the further development and possibilities of the DMG MORI IoT Connector. We would like to thank them for their hospitality and interesting insights on TDM Day.
Lots of news at TDM Systems
The management of TDM Systems with Jean-Paul Seuren (Managing Director TDM Systems), and Andreas Seum welcomed the participants, talked about the past 30 years of TDM software, and provided interesting insights into future digital developments on the market. Timo Kanz, Head of Product & Technology and CTO at TDM Systems, provided a comprehensive insight into the development and release timeline for the coming years and the strategic product development. Clearly in focus: The use and everyday work with TDM solutions should become even easier for users at all levels of a customer's company. Standardization, simplified installation and commissioning for customers, and the expansion of web-/cloud-based applications that enable access via mobile devices are the focus of the next releases and product innovations.
CNC Sven – machining influencer gives tips for modern skilled worker recruitment
Sven Daniel, also known online as CNC Sven, spoke about a completely different topic. The self-confessed thoroughbred machinist owns a contract manufacturing business and describes himself as the first influencer in the contract manufacturing industry in the German-speaking market. He has now gained over 150,000 followers with his videos about machining. In his lecture in Pfronten, he gave valuable tips on recruiting today's skilled workers. He is thinking about how the training of workers can be automated and also simplified. In his company, he also enables unskilled workers to receive training with videos about company processes, products, machines, tools and other topics. This enables high-quality training of new
employees, but also saves and provides important know-how digitally.
Optimize machine running times: TDM iCut and TDM appCom
Holger Langhans, Business Development Professional at TDM Systems, has dedicated himself entirely to the topic of production optimization. Following the merger with Comara GmbH, TDM Systems now also offers solutions for adaptive feed control, machine data monitoring and OEE evaluations. Using real production data, he demonstrated how automated feed control works with TDM iCut and the enormous increases in efficiency that customers have already achieved. Visitors were also interested in the complete machine monitoring by TDM appCom, as they can transparently evaluate comprehensive information about the machine with simple installation effort.
Data is the New Energy – Data Services for TDM customers
TDM Systems Data Services is firmly anchored in the core business. This is where we address one of the fundamental sticking points of many digitalization processes in tool data and tool management: Completeness and quality of the tool data with which the TDM Systems solutions work. Engin Özkan, Manager Data Services, used concrete examples to show how customers benefit from using Data Services: Data records generated and checked by digital professionals guarantee data quality and therefore also that the TDM solutions are productive very quickly. The TDM WebCatalog is also part of the Data Services: It now contains over 345,000 data records and, in 2024, the tool data of further manufacturers will be added.
Case Study: Automated shopfloor management at Boll & Kirch Filterbau GmbH
The best recommenders for TDM Systems are always the people who actually work productively with one of our solutions in their company. We were therefore delighted that Karsten Zimmer from Boll & Kirch Filterbau was able to show the TDM Day participants how the shopfloor management system works in his production facility. Zimmer is Head of Tool Technology at the medium-sized company based in Kerpen (NRW). The company has been working with solutions from TDM Systems since 2000. Zimmer uses Fastems MMS for production planning and control at the Sindorf site with two Heller H 6000 systems and one Heller H 8000 system, each with 411 tool stations, and organizes tool management with TDMshopcontrol. Via an interface,
both systems automatically communicate changes in the tool setup of the machines and the crib inventory
in the tool presetting. Machine runtimes and therefore the OEE rate of the entire production facilities could
therefore be significantly increased.
Summary: An all-round successful event
After TDM Day is before TDM Day: We are already looking forward to next year and to the personal contacts we can make there. We would like to thank all participants and our local partners once again: For the good atmosphere, the commitment and all the input that we were able to take back to Tübingen with us.
